From the stone textures, twin dormers and prominent center hip, the Merchan achieves a sense of old-world romance. The French country style house plan has an eye catching octagonal great room that opens through French doors to the backyard. It is flanked by a formal dining room and open kitchen on one side and an extraordinary master suite with private porch on the other. Secondary bedrooms, a den, loft and more are found upstairs.

Uniquely Open describes the Merchan, a classic but innovative French country design. With twin dormers, mirroring chimneys and a prominent center hip, the Merchan plan achieves a sense of classic, exquisite symmetry. It has French doors, a fireplace, and a built-in entertainment center that enhance the room's functionality. A powder bath is located just to the right of the foyer.

Grand columns and archways separate the bright formal dining room that connects to the U-shaped kitchen. The dining room has a beautiful stepped ceiling and two sets of French doors lead out to a private porch. The large center island in the kitchen offers plenty of counter space. There is a separate entry from the kitchen to the utility/laundry room. There is plenty of counter space for folding clothes and it even has room for a soaking sink. Two more of the Merchan design's distinctive traits are the master suite's private entry with art niche and a private porch. Twin vanities, a corner shower, whirlpool soaking tub, linen niche, large walk-in closet and private porch top the master-suite's amenities.

A second-story loft allows enchanting views of the great room below. Identical twin bedroom suites include full bathrooms. There is a centrally located den upstairs also. Put your tools to work on the built-in workbench in the detached two-car garage connected by a covered breezeway.

Outdoors, symmetry being the dominant feature, is expressed perfectly in the Merchan plan, with mirrored chimneys and twin dormers. This house plan has 2651 square feet of living area, three bedrooms and three and 1/2 bathrooms. The foundation is a crawlspace.
