House Plan Description
An abundance of sunburst windows and a gazebo-style porch make for an unforgettable first impression in this French Country style plan, the Thornebury. The entry leads into a grand foyer. Inside, the grand radius staircase and open ceiling to the second floor sleeping quarters reveals ample light, views and impressive details. The Thornebury plan boasts a formal dining room that connects via a butler's pantry to the gourmet kitchen. The center island of the kitchen offers plenty of extra counter space.
The large, open concept floor plan features a spacious leisure room with two sets of French doors that open to the side porch. It also boasts a built-in entertainment center. The breakfast nook is surrounded with glass walls that overlook the porch as well.
To the rear of the first floor is the utility room that is large enough to include the washer and dryer as well as a wash tub and counter space for folding clothes. Custom cabinets store the essentials such as detergents and other cleaning supplies. The garage has two bays. There is an optional attic access with pull down stairs.
To the left of the first floor in the Thornebury plan is the private master suite with the entrance that leads through a separate foyer. There is a set of French doors leading out to the private porch from the master foyer. The master bedroom has a spectacular tray ceiling. Two separate walk in closets lead to the master bathroom. Double vanities with sinks are on opposite walls while the Whirlpool soaker tub sits at the end of the bathroom surrounded by windows. There is a separate walk in shower.
Adding a sense of spaciousness to the Thornebury plan, many of the rooms boast beautifully styled ceilings. Other unique features on the first floor include a study with a window seat, and an outdoor kitchen on the rear porch. Upstairs, guests will enjoy an octagonal-shaped bedroom with its brilliant window displays. Two additional bedrooms and another full bath, along with a computer center, linen closet and loft complete the second floor.
The Thornebury house plan offers 3096 square feet of living area and has four bedrooms and three and 1/2 bathrooms. The plan sits on a crawlspace foundation.

What Plan Format Should I Order?
At Sater Design, we’re all about creating your dream home and making the process as easy as possible for you. Therefore, the plan format you select will depend on your situation. For your convenience, we sell our plans in 3 basic plan formats: printed on Vellum paper, in electronic PDF file format, and electronic AutoCAD files. AutoCAD is the name of the program that is used to create the plans. There is no “correct” or “better” plan format, it all depends on your individual needs. Each plan format has its benefits and some are more versatile than others.
Print Vellum: The most popular plan format our customers order is the Print-Vellum format. This plan format gives you a set of plans printed on Vellum paper that you can show your builder. Copies can be made as needed– see the Plan Licensing Information page for more details. The Vellum paper is erasable (using a special architect’s eraser) so added notes or minor changes can be made to the plans if needed. The Vellum plan format is the most expensive to ship.
PDF Electronic: The second most popular plan format is PDF, which is an electronic file format. We email you the plan as a set of electronic PDF files. This plan format provides the most expedient way to receive the plans. Your local blue print shop can make prints as needed. Again, see the Plan Licensing Information page for more details on making copies. The PDF plan format is an electronic file, but it is not editable so changes can be more difficult to make.
CAD Electronic: If you need to make changes or alterations to the plan, you will need to order the plan in electronic AutoCAD plan format. Anyone with the AutoCAD program and knowledge of how to use it — which most builders do –will be able to open the files and make changes to them. Your builder or local blue print shop can make prints from the AutoCAD files (see the Plan Licensing Information page for more details). There AutoCAD files come on a USB flash drive and is shipped with your plan licensing information packet.
